- Could you tell us a bit about the main character?
Fianchetto is a very curious halfling with the mentality of a child. Despite being in his twenties, Fianchetto still acts and thinks that he is a younger halfling. His innocent and oblivious personality causes him to stand out in his neighborhood, and his always cheerful outlook and kind demeanor towards everyone makes it hard for people not to like him.
He lives on his own in the slums of Athkatla, where he hones his skills at cooking pies on a daily basis. Because of this, he is rather overweight by halfling standards, and others tease him for this.
Even stranger about Fianchetto is the "voices" he hears and talks to all the time. Everyone believes that Fianchetto is just a bit touched in the head, but those who know him best realize there may be more to this than just imaginary voices. Because of his strange nature however, Fianchetto has made some benevolent and powerful friends whom look out for him. It is quite possible and likely that Fianchetto does not realize just how much of an impact he has on others, but he lives his life day to day enjoying the simple pleasures. He is a very complicated person with a very simple personality.
- Where does the bulk of the game take place, and what are some of the more interesting places we might be able to explore?
The game takes place in the country of Amn. The explorable sections of the city of Athkatla are quite large, adding up to 8 districts the player can travel through. The city itself can easily end up being where the bulk of the player's time is spent, but this will be entirely up to how many sidequests the player chooses. The game will entail other cities in the country of Amn, such as Purskul, Esmelteran, Eshpurta, Crimmor, and Keczulla.
As for places of interest, the old Shilmista will be there (Forest of shadows), as well as the cloud peak mountains, troll mountains with qadim hills, and the snakewood just for a few examples =)
- About how much playtime will the mod offer?
This is really hard to estimate, but its going to be really long. At least 20 hours.
- Is custom content being created for the mod, and if so, how much?
Yes, quite a lot actually. I have about 5 composers working on an entirely custom soundtrack for the mod, the UI will be custom, tons of placeables, terrain textures, and hopefully a creature or two.
Also, I have a custom "Craft: Cooking" skill that the player can use. It will mainly be for Fianchetto, but if the player chooses he can use that with the Craft Wonderous Item feat to create magical food recipies.
- How will the action look? Will it be lots of fighting, or lots of talking (or both)? How challenging will the mod be?
Both. I'm pretty wordy when I want to be, and I love to have long, non-plot related conversations if they are amusing or interesting =)
As for challenge, I love a good challenge, and I think this mod would be much better served and more memorable if the players have a difficult time. I try to make each combat scenario difficult.
Death rules play into this, as I use permanent death with the need for resurrection.
- Could you tell us a bit about the main quest?
Hard to answer really without giving away spoilers. The quest will revolve around the main character Fianchetto, which you play. It starts out with a friend of Fianchetto's visiting him and sending him on a simple errand. However a deep mystery begans to unfold as an unfortunate event happens during the errand. The quest will revovle around discovering this mystery and trying to find friends to assist in the task.
- What is the level range of the mod?
The main character Fianchetto starts out at level 7. The length of this story gives the potential to at least reach the mid teens, though I think it may go higher.
- Are there any character restrictions?
The only real big restriction, is that the main story will not make a damn bit of sense unless you play as the pre-supplied Fianchetto character. However, I altered my companion's packages so that you may multiclass them however you wish. The same goes for Fianchetto.
- Is there any support for support for bluff/intimidate/diplomacy/...?
I have not figured out how I will do this yet, as the main character has only bluff in his class skills. I may use situational checks depending on who is in the party. But I will try them. For example, if the bard is in the party a diplomacy option in dialogue may become available.
